I can not adequately convey to you how good it felt to see Obama win the election. I have lived that last 8 years only believing things were getting worse and worse for the US. In all my adult life, I was never really proud of anything my country had done. But today... I was proud.
I do not pretend to believe that the US is the "leader" of the free world. God help us if it really was. It is only a very lucky country with a lot of wealth and military power. But has not been wise or just or particularly free. This is only one election, but I believe it is hope. Hope that perhaps even the US can be good and truly give something to the world that is worthwhile.
