[sf] A Scanner Darkly, by Philip K. Dick

*** (out of 5)
Entertaining, but ultimately didn’t go where I wanted it too. It’s got this great paranoid recursive hook: An undercover narcotics agent has to spy on himself. But rather than going full-on pulpy and twisty, Dick restrains himself and turns A Scanner Darkly into a personal reflection on the damage he suffered while taking drugs.
